Thomson Reuters is looking for a correspondent to cover politics and general news in Thailand where a long-running political crisis is entering its sixth year. The successful candidate will oversee a team of 3 Thai reporters and sub-editors providing coverage of one of Asia's top political risk stories for both the Thai and English language services. He or she must be plugged into Thailand's political and news environment, cultivate senior government sources, secure interviews with key newsmakers, and win the top stories against domestic and international competitors. Aside from day-to-day spot news coverage, the correspondent will write or contribute to Enterprise and other initiative stories. He or she will also be expected to work closely with Economics and Company News reporters in developing cross-asset stories and manage a network of stringers across the country. The successful candidate must be able to work closely with television and pictures to help produce a first-rate multi-media file.
Qualifications:
•Must be fluent in Thai.
•Excellent written and spoken English.
•At least 5 years reporting and writing experience.
•Ability to lead a small team of reporters/sub-editors.
•Deep knowledge of Thailand's political environment.
•Strong organizational skills.
•Must be prepared to work unusual hours.
