Thai Committee for Refugees Foundation (TCR) will hold a press conference and Q&A session on a release of two stateless children and their adult family members from the Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Thailand (FCCT).

The two children are stateless children who have been detained with their widowed mother for more than a year in the IDC. They are members of a minority from the Vietnamese central highlands called Montagnards. They arrived in Thailand in 2010 seeking asylum, after months of painstaking journey. They are scheduled to be released from the Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) in Bangkok at 9:00 a.m., January 27, 2012. The two children will be attending St. Andrews International School with full scholarships during their entire stay in Thailand upon their release.

Dr. Amara Pongsapich, the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRC), Wisa Benjamano, the National Human Rights Commissioner, Annie Hansen, Director of Admissions and Marketing of St. Andrews International School and Veerawit Tianchainan, Founder and Executive Director of TCR will be available for the briefing and media questions.
