What this covers

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. Some pages here also load content from other companies — a map, a video, the fonts — and those companies can set their own cookies or record that your browser asked for something.

This page lists everything this site loads from somewhere other than our own domain. It does not cover links to other websites: following a link takes you somewhere with its own policy.

What the site loads

Of these, Google Analytics is the one that exists to record what you do. It tells us how many people read a page, roughly where they are, and which pages lead to others. We use it to decide what to publish, not to identify anybody.

The videos use YouTube's no-cookie player, which does not set advertising cookies until a video is played. Nothing loads from YouTube on the pages where a still image stands in for the video until you press play.

What we do not do

• We do not use advertising or re-targeting cookies.
• We do not sell or share what analytics records.
• We do not track you across other websites.

Controlling cookies

Every browser can block or delete cookies, usually under privacy settings. Blocking them will not stop this site working — nothing here needs a cookie to function.

Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site that uses it.
