More than half of the world's population - over 3.4 billion people - reside in countries where borrowing interest rates are 2-4 times higher than those of the United States, and up to 12 times higher than those of Germany.
Would it not be preferable for these nations to pay lower, fairer interest rates? This would translate into having adequate budgets to improve the quality of life for their populations in areas such as public health, education, and other vital sectors.
The Aids Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is actively promoting initiatives to foster fairness for developing countries, while collaborating with all sectors to propose constructive and sustainable solutions.
FCCT member can join the panel discussion “Expanding Fiscal Space for Health through Debt Justice, AI Solidarity and Global South Leadership” on October 14, at the FCCT from 10am to 12noon.
