On the shadow tracks: Book launch

Link to the program recording here.
In 2016, while working in Yangon, journalist Clare Hammond came across a map in a policy paper that showed a web of new railways spanning the length and breadth of Myanmar -- railways not shown on other publicly available maps at the time. She would spend three months traveling on these railways and the next five years piecing their story together.
"On The Shadow Tracks: A Journey Through Occupied Myanmar" is her travelogue and account of Myanmar’s history that looks at how the military used railways to perpetuate power -- and how that practice dates back to the days of British colonial rule.
Join Clare Hammond in conversation with FCCT board member Tan Hui Yee as they delve into this complex legacy and what implications it has for Myanmar’s ongoing crisis.
Copies of the book will be on sale during the event.
