The FCCT hosted an informal lunch last week with Jirayut Srupsrisopa, the CEO of Bitkub, a Thailand-based company that runs a popular digital asset and cryptocurrency exchange platform.
Cryptocurrencies have attracted a growing interest from the public as well as financial institutions in Thailand, although trading of crypto has yet to be legalised by the country's Securities and Exchange Commission.
Jirayut, as well as Bitkub's PR manager Shanya Visessiri, provided an overview of the company and their outlook on cryptocurrency in Thailand to interested journalists, including reporters from Reuters, Singapore's Straits Times, Al-Jazeera, and Techsauce.
