Olympic gold: An evening with Thai gold medalist Panipak Wongpattanakit
Link to the program recording here.
In the lead up to the Paris Olympics 2024, the Thai government set the ambitious goal of winning six gold medals. Yet only Panipak Wongpattanakit, the Taekwondo athlete affectionately known as ‘Tennis’, brought one back from Paris.
Across Thailand’s 72 year history of participation in the Olympics, she is the first Thai athlete to ever succeed in defending her title, and that also makes her the country’s only two-time gold medal winner.
Come and meet Tennis Panipak Wongpattanakit and hear her inspiring story of perseverance and determination to win gold, and her journey to the top of the world’s sporting echelons. Bring your questions for this remarkable athlete, who will discuss her experiences in Paris, the lives and roles of women athletes in Thailand, her growth over the course of three Olympic competitions (2016, 2020 and 2024) in which she won medals, and what she has been doing since returning from Paris as an athletic superstar.
Doors will open at 6:30 pm, and the event will start promptly at 7:30 pm. Drinks and food from a special FCCT menu will be available.
